Have you ever wondered about the effectiveness of your advertising? Does your advertising really work? Unfortunately, many small business owners miss the mark in advertising and we believe that their advertising does not work. This is a sad mistake, because if it is effective, advertising can be one of your strongest marketing tactics to attract customers and increase your sales of your products. Chances are, if your ad is not working, may due to one of five reasons:

1. Too much information

Many advertisers try to put too much information in their ads. The ad is trying to do too many things at once. Recent research indicates that you have less than 3 seconds to capture the attention of potential customers. Your ad should convey a sense of unique and attractive offer. Try to make your ads simple and concise.

2. Not enough time

Marketing is like good wine, needs time to reach perfection. Many small business owners to stop their advertising and only one to run some ads and wait for the magic happen. This is not true. Your customers need to see, get acquainted with you and that you need at the time you need. There are four forces that need to be in alignment for your ad to work: Right Message, Right Market, Right Tactic and Right Time. You advertising should be part of a long-term strategy and designed and executed to perfection.

3. Not exciting

People watch TV, listen to the radio, read a magazine and go online to find information, fun and participate. If the ad is boring, customers will not notice. Your ads need to engage your audience and be interesting or fun to capture your attention.

4. It’s you and not the client

Your advertising should not be about your brand. Should be an extension of your brand and focused on the benefits to your customers or clients. With millions of ads that occur each month, you want to make sure you show that you understand the needs of their customers when they see your ads, your brand resonates with them. Try making a call to action that forces the reader to take action because they feel it is speaking directly to them.

5. Not the right market

To meet their target market, you have to know who they are, what they want and what they fear. Many small business owners lost this critical point. If you’re advertising in the wrong place, the announcement will not work. Make sure you fully understand your target market and niche business to a group audience. Once you know exactly what the customer seems to know where to stay, what they read and that are associated with it becomes easy and will help you identify where to place your ads.
